Kenya
Stay in Nairobi’s five-star Tribe Marriott Design Hotel, enjoy a city tour, feed giraffes, visit art galleries, and attend a welcome celebration at my family home. We will celebrate the New Year in style at a trendy Nairobi venue.
Next, we will travel on Safari to the famous Maasai Mara. We will stay at the luxurious Serena Mara Game Camp. We will do daily safari drives with Maasai guides to see lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos and other big game. We will also visit a traditional Maasai Village visit before returning to Nairobi.
Zanzibar
We will continue to Zanzibar. There we will explore the ancient city of Stone Town which has rich history and many shops and markets to explore. We will stay in the luxurious Park Hyatt Zanzibar. After two nights in Stone Town, we will head to the pristine beaches that Zanzibar is most famous for. There we unwind for two nights at Le Mersenne a Marriott Autograph Collection Resort

Day 1

Depart US
You will depart the US on an overnight flight to Kenya connection in Europe or the Middle East.
Day 2
Date : December 28, 2025
Arrive Nairobi
You will arrive at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and will be met by an Africa is Open representative. They will assist you with your bag and will escort you to the driver. The driver will transfer you to the Tribe (Marriott Design) Hotel for your four night stay in Nairobi which will include daily breakfast.
Day 3

Nairobi Tour/Welcome Party
On your first full day in Nairobi, you will go on a guided tour where you will see key sights around the city and have an opportunity to feed Giraffes.
We will end the day with a "Welcome to Kenya" party at my dad’s home which will include local Kenyan food and cocktails.
Day 4
Date : December 30, 2025
Kenya Museum/Shopping
You will visit the Nairobi Nation Museum then you will have the opportunity to visit some of my favorite local artists as well as the market where you can pick up handcrafted item to take home. Also the Tribe Hotel where you will be staying is also located adject to the Village Market, the largest mall in East Africa. It offers hundreds of shopping and food options.
Day 5
Date : December 31, 2025
New Year’s Eve Party
We will usher in the New Year with dinner at Carnivore, a famous Nairobi restaurant that serves tantalizing, exotic African game meats like antelope, ostrich, and wild boar in addition to traditional beef, chicken, fish, and pork. We will enjoy Nairobi nighlife at one of Nairobi's trendy lounges as we toast in the New Year.

New Years Day Brunch
After we recover from the New Year celebrations, we will have leisurely New Year Day brunch at a trendy Nairobi restaurant.
Day 7

Nairobi→ Maasai Mara
After the New Year celebrations, we will travel to the luxurious Mara Serena Safari Lodge to see lions, elephants, hippos, zebras, giraffes, and other wildlife. While at the camp we will do daily safari game drives with local Maasai guides who's ancestors have lives in the area for thousands of years.
Day 8
Date : January 3, 2026
Maasai Mara
We will wrap up our visit to the Mara with a visit to a Maasai Tribal village to learn about their ancient lifestyle and traditions.
Day 9

Maasai Mara→ Nairobi→ Stone Town, Zanzibar
After the safari, we are offering you an optional way to end your trip on “spice island” Zanzibar. There you will spend your first two nights at the beautiful Park Hyatt Zanzibar Hotel in Stone town. Stone Town is a city of prominent historical and artistic importance in East Africa. Its architecture, mostly dating back to the 19th century, reflects the diverse influences underlying the Swahili culture, giving a unique mixture of Arab, Persian, Indian and European elements. For this reason, the town was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Zanzibar was the former capital of the Zanzibar Sultanate, and was centre of the spice trade as well as the Indian Ocean slave trade.

Stone Town Tour & Shopping
On day two you will tour Stone Town and will visit the ancient maze of streets which is lined with exotic shops and markets.

Stone Town→ Zanzibar Beach Resort
We will take a quick drive to the white sandy beaches that Zanzibar is most famous for. We will stay at the luxurious Le Mersenne Zanzibar (Marriott Autograph Collection). The hotel is located only a short walk away from the famous Zanzibar Rock Restaurant.

Kenya Entry Requirements
Visas: Tourist will need an eVisa (Electronic Visa) to enter Kenya. In order to apply for the eVisa you will need proof of you round trip airlines ticket to Kenya and booking confirmation of your hotel or other initial accommodation in Kenya. You can apply for an eVisa for $32.50 USD at the link below.
If approved, the applicant will receive a QR Code via email which they present to the Immigration Officer upon arrival at the airport in Kenya.
Kenya Entry Requirements:
- Passport with at least one blank page and six months’ validity.
- Visitors must present a round-trip ticket and be prepared to demonstrate they have sufficient funds for their stay.
- Vaccinations are not required to visit Kenya. It is advisable but not required to take anti-malaria pills if visiting areas outside of Nairobi. These pills can be obtained from your own doctor or without a prescription from any pharmacy in Kenya.
Tanzania Entry Requirements
Visas: Tourists must obtain a one-year multiple entry visa for $100. Applicants can apply and pay online for an e-visa in advance of travel at the link below.

If approved, the applicant will receive a “grant notice” via email which they present to the Immigration Officer upon arrival at the airport in Tanzania. U.S. citizens can also obtain a tourist visa upon arrival.
Tanzania Entry Requirements:

- Visitors must present a round-trip ticket and be prepared to demonstrate they have sufficient funds for their stay.
Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required for all travelers arriving from countries where the disease is endemic, including 12+ hour airport transit and layovers.
US insurance policies are typically not valid internationally. Cost for minor medical procedures are inexpensive in Kenya and Tanzania. But we strongly recommend obtaining travel insurance coverage including medical evacuation for the trip. All major airlines and insurance companies such Allianz (https://www.allianztravelinsurance.com/) offer trip coverage.
Most major us cell phone service (AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon will work in normally Kenya and Tanzania (even when on safari). Most will charge a $12 daily international roaming rate topping out at $100 per month.
No. American Express, Master Card and Visa are widely accepted at major retailers and restaurants in Kenya. You will also be able to use MPESA which is digital currency and the primary way that people pay for goods and services in Kenya. You will need to download the Sendwave app on your Apple or Android phone to use this option. For smaller retailer you can obtain Kenyan Shilling after arrival from ATMs which are available throughout the country.
Vaccinations are not required for travel to Kenya. A yellow fever vaccination will be required upon arrival to Zanzibar (Tanzania) for all travelers arriving from countries where the disease is endemic.
